Disclaimer: This is going to be another post where I harp on my love for in-home sessions. I know I talk about them a lot but I can’t stress the beauty of them enough! If I had to describe my style of photography, I would with two words…”Authentic Moments”. I search for them everywhere and I try to go into an environment where those beautiful memories will just naturally happen. When you are in your own space, with the ones you love, it’s a no-brainer. I’m so happy that my husband and I were able to do Dolly’s newborn photos at her home with her sweet parents. She was comfy and happy because she knew where she was. We didn’t do any crazy uncomfortable poses…she wasn’t hot or cold. It was easy for us to stop at anytime and just let her get in a little snack or nap if she needed one. We sat back and captured her parents love on her and then we just let her do her thing. Every moment you see below occurred authentically. These type of memories are special…not the clothes, not the props or poses…the feelings, the kisses, her tiny feet and the way her father looks at her. The session took an hour and we left three happy humans completely at ease and excited about their session and memory cards filled with sweet moments. Can’t wait for your next one!
First off…MOLLY AND MARCUS ARE MY DREAM COUPLE! They were absolutely the best to work with. Molly works at Lowndes Grove so she really wanted to do their engagement session their. That was music to my ears because it is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Charleston. The main house showcases 1786 circa architecture and it is right on the water. Their is a gorgeous dock is surrounded by Charleston’s gorgeous wetlands. The first location that we went to inside the house was on the third floor and had the most gorgeous window. Molly told me that they rarely go up their because it is supposed to be haunted….that just made it even more of a must for me! We explored every inch of the house, take photos along the way. We then went outside and walked the dock and I had them kiss under the oaks. When we finally made it to the front yard, I had them running and racing like they were kids again. They went with it gladly and we had the best time. This is how a session should feel…full of fun, love and memories.
Ohhhhh Charleston and it’s crazy hurricane season. It’s definitely one of the few downsides to living in the Southeast. This year, Hurricane Dorian threatened to hit our coast as a Category 3. Jessica and Blade aren’t from Charleston and had no idea if they would even be able to have their wedding since it was due to hit the day before. The hurricane never came on shore here but we did get some high winds and lots of rain. We were definitely so fortunate and their was only minor damage. I was so impressed with our whole team of vendors and Jessica and Blade! They were so easy going during a very stressful situation and you can could tell that they just wanted to get married…rain or shine, on the Cotton Dock or not. You see, these are MY TYPE of couples. The type that are just too in love to let things out of their control get under their skin..they went with the flow and everything worked out! It wasn’t hard to understand why the majority of their guests who were from different parts of the country would travel to Charleston right after a hurricane to be there for them. They are kind, fun and very special humans. I’m so glad they had the gorgeous day they absolutely deserve.
I’m such a huge fan of doing sessions at home…you are in your comfort zone, the logistics are incredibly simple and the photos come out AMAZING. Also, if you have children or fur babies, I promise they will cooperate a thousand times better if they are in their own space. Ashley’s maternity session was a showcase of her and her husband’s love for each other and the excitement they have for the upcoming arrival of their first little one, Eleanor. We did the whole session in just an hour and it looks like four separate shoots! That is also another plus; your whole wardrobe is right in the next room!. Can you tell I really like to do in home sessions? If this short blurb didn’t convince you, I’m sure the photos will. Enjoy!
Gina and Daniel are friends of ours so we were absolutely thrilled to photograph their wedding. They chose to have their wedding in Blowing Rock, North Carolina at the Blue Ridge Mountain Club. We were so excited to get mountain views at some of the outlooks really include the scenery in the portraits. Mother Nature had another plan though. It was rainy and foggy the entire weekend and we didn’t get to see the acutal mountains then entire trip. Gina and Daniel were amazing though…all they cared about is getting married. Deno and I knew that we could use the rain and fog to create some beautifully moody and romantic images and we were lucky to have such an adventurous couple! They trusted us and the results were more beautiful then we could have planned for! Enjoy!!
Madison and Ben’s wedding will be one that I never forget. Not only are they a beautiful couple (inside and out), their entire families are too! They were married at First Baptist Church in downtown Charleston which is surrounded by some of the most beautiful backdrops for their Bride and Groom photos. The reception was held at Society Hall and couldn’t have been more elegant. The reception was filled with heartwarming speeches and lots of dancing. Here are some of my favorites from their amazing day!

Kelly and Phil’s wedding was such a wonderful start to the season! The ceremony took place in beautiful Hampton Park where the flowers were in full bloom and then we took a walk around East Bay and Market around sunset. Their reception took place at Merchant’s Hall which is one of the most beautiful spaces I’ve been too in Charleston. It is located right near the Market and has the most amazing natural light. Here are some of my favorites from their beautiful day!
As much as I love going Downtown Charleston for an engagement session, it’s always a fun change of pace when a couple wants to do something different. Brette and Jamie wanted their engagement session to represent who they are as a couple. They spend a lot of time on their boat so they decided that would be the perfect place to do theirs. They also came across a beautiful island about a 15 minute boat ride from the Isle of Palms Marina last year that really stole their heart so they wanted to do some photos their as well. It was a beautiful fall night, a little chilly but in a refreshing way especially after the extremely warm fall we’ve been having in Charleston this year. We left an hour and a half before sunset and it was the most perfect evening ever. the lighting was to die for and their was hardly any wind so the water was as still as glass, reflecting the beautiful colors. This is one of my favorite sessions for sure.
Last year, I did my very first Fair series at the Annual Coastal Carolina Fair and fell in love with how the photos turned out. I decided to do another round of Fair photos this year with even more subjects! The photos came out beautiful! Check them out!

I can’t get over how beautiful Kalonda and Greg’s wedding was. The details were TO DIE FOR. I loved the use of burgundies and gold. Everything felt very elegant which was fitting because Kalonda was all Queen that day. Her beautiful dress had a full skirt and the tiara was the perfect touch. Greg’s white suit with a simple burgundy boutonnière was so classic and fetching. Alhambra Hall is such a special venue and all the natural light coming through the windows made for some stunning reception shots. One of the biggest highlights is they served BRUNCH! The food was so good…French toast sticks, doughnuts, shrimp and grits, steak, bacon and eggs…THE WORKS! You know us Charlestonian’s love us some Brunch! I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!
I’m so excited that I was asked to photograph an editorial for SKIRT magazine! Check out the cover and some of the photos that were used in the September issue!
Rosa and I recently styled a beautiful shoot with the gorgeous, Marissa Rocco. Honestly, we didn't plan on it turning into something that resembled a modern day editorial Dorothy but it evolved into it once we got on location. The mixture of the killer fishtail braids Rosa did and the long grass and winding paths really gives it a distinct Oz vibe! I hope you all enjoy these...this project is my favorite with Rosa so far!

Here is another beautifully styled shoot I was honored to be a part of with Makeup/Hair Artist, Rosa Martinez. She styled this look to perfection. We had help with the second look from Dandy Boutique, my absolute favorite shop in Charleston. Our gorgeous model is Sam Rueter. She is a local contemporary artist and one of the most talented women I know! It was so fun walking the streets of downtown Charleston and creating these gorgeous portraits. I hope you enjoy them!

The Old Naval Shipyard in North Charleston is one of my favorite places to shoot. Yes, I love the charm and romance of downtown Charleston but sometimes I want some edge in my photos. This spot is perfect for that with it's old abandoned buildings and rusted loading docks. I love photographing Lette, she is such a natural in front of the camera! She sent me some inspiration shots that she wanted to try because she really wanted to highlight her gorgeous hair in the photos. We had a crazy winter storm (YES SNOW IN CHARLESTON) so we still had snow on the ground. Everything was perfect. I could not have dreamed of these photos coming out any better than they did. Get ready to fall in love with Lette and this location. xoxo
I've been wanting to do a photo series at the Fair for a few years now but it never seemed to come together. I was determined this year! I was originally only going to do two shoots but when I started advertising for models and makeup artists, the response was so great I added more. It was so much fun spending three evenings at the fair working with these amazing models and artists to create these gorgeous portraits. Until next year, Coastal Carolina Fair xoxo

Let me take a minute to brag on Charleston Makeup and Hair Artist, Rosa Martinez. When she came to me with this idea I was very intrigued by the mood board. She wanted to make this headpiece and build the shoot around it. Let me tell you, the amount of detail Rosa put into this piece is UNREAL...I don't think these photos even do it justice! We chose beautiful Lindsey, who is also an insanely good photographer, to be our model. Her long blonde hair and striking features were perfect. Of course we wanted to give this a very dark feel so we did the shoot in one of the oldest cemeteries in Charleston, St. Phillip's Church Cemetery. Everything came together to create these beautifully eerie photos. Check them out! Also, since posting them on Facebook and Instagram, people have pointed out that they see some scary stuff in the images. Can you find anything? (cue spooky noises) xoxox.

I am probably one of the biggest fans of dogs IN THE WORLD. My 5 year old Dachshund is such a big part of my world and brings me more happiness than I could ever explain. When Nina asked me to do a photo session with her and her 5 year old French Mastiff, Veda, I was ECSTATIC! Why doesn't every single dog owner do this?!! Dogs aren't with us forever, unfortunately, but having beautiful portraits of a sunset evening playing in the water together will be something you can treasure for a lifetime. This session makes me so happy. Nina is absolutely gorgeous and Veda is a whole lot of love and sweetness. I won't forget her running into the water and splashing around....And yes, dogs can smile. Check out my favorites from our evening together! xoxo
In Charleston, we are very fortunate to have a community of very talented creatives. I was thrilled when local makeup artist, Rosa Martinez, www.therosamartinez.com, asked me to be a part of this beautiful fall inspired styled project. The photos came out so great and I'm so happy Rosa let me help bring her concept to life! Enjoy and Happy Fall! (Ya'll xoxo)

I have a special place in my heart for Anniversary sessions. It's such a beautiful gift to travel to one of the cities you love the most and to take photos loving on each other in some of the most beautiful alley ways and historic neighborhoods in the country. Elizabeth and Nathan's love for each other was so beautiful to capture. I could have spent all evening walking the city with them. Here are some of my favorites xoxo
I've been DYING to share these photos from my styled shoot with the Gorgeous Joanne! She was dressed in the most amazing retro inspired pieces from Dandy Boutique. We decided to do the session at a laundromat/cafe right in the center of Historic Downtown and the College of Charleston. They came out so good! Check them out xoxo!
